The imminent launch of Freedom Boat Club Tasmania at Derwent Sailing Squadron heralds the beginning of a new approach to boating for a growing group of Foundation Members some of whom have completed the New Member Orientation. The first of those was attended by DSS member, pictured below on Raylgass 2350 ‘Reverence’ bristling with rod holders and enthusiasm!.
Almost all the clubs are based at commercial marinas, in Sydney, for example at Mosman Bay, Rushcutters Bay and The Spit. A further 6 locations are available to those who join Freedom Boat club Tasmania and that’s not all because the other 440+ clubs around the world including new ones in Marseille and Aguadulce. Freedom Boat Club Tasmania members have access to a local fleet of four new boats, the first of which, a Rayglass 2350 now has 30 hours on it and has provided fun for a dozen or so people already.
New members are admitted upon payment of a once-only Initiation Fee followed by a monthly subscription which represents an efficient and economical way to have access to local boats and boat at hundreds of US, NZ and European locations from Galveston to Loch Lomond.
Local Franchise owner Kelvin Markham enjoyed sailing several yachts over the years and is relatively new to power boating. Taking tips from the experts has been an interesting part of getting ready for our launch. Jack Allison (Derwent Boat Sales) kindly offered to provide some tips on use of the trim tabs on the Rayglass 2350. What a concept! Coupled with the automatic trim tabs, the stability and ride and competent use of these features makes cruising at speed very comfortable.
Freedom Boat Club Tasmania at Derwent Sailing Squadron extends the range of boating experiences by providing the latest new high performance boats for a simple and relatively inexpensive initial fee followed by a monthly subscription. We provide and include the cost of training boaters of every level from the inexperienced to those who have been boating all their lives. That way we introduce people to boating who may not have been interested before because of the costs involved. Freedom Boat Club Tasmania boats are in the water ready to go an available to members over 21 between sunrise and sunset 7 days for whom the only operational cost is the fuel.
As such, a lot of the normal barriers to ownership such as towing, storage, maintenance, insurance, registration are dealt with for you, allowing you maximize time on the water having fun. Two skippers over 21 from a household are included on the one membership. Both can make bookings throughout the network using the Freedom App.
